Antoine Kanamugire, MD is a husband, a father, a friend, medical doctor, psychiatrist, author, associate professor of clinical medicine and a mental health awareness enthusiast.
He is a fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Board-Certified psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in the USA. He completed a bachelor’s degree in biology at Laroche University in Pittsburgh, PA, a medical degree at University of Sherbrooke and his specialty in psychiatry at University of Montreal.
Dr Antoine is licensed to practice in Canada and US and he has been practicing as a psychiatrist and therapist for more than 10 years in multiple settings.
He has practiced as a consultant psychiatrist for teams of family doctors, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapist, nurses and psychoeducators. He also worked as an outpatient psychiatrist, an intensive outpatient psychiatrist and as a consultant psychiatrist in the emergency department.
In the midst of legalization and decriminalization of some drugs in the US and Canada, Dr Antoine held a media campaign initiative to raise awareness about potential mental health risks associated with drugs usage especially among young people under the age of twenty five.
